GLOBAL CHILDHOOD - HONG KONG
The exhibition aims to celebrate multiculturalism, affirm globalisation and explore the social influences connecting Spanish artists with Asian forms of expression. The fictional characters and cartoons in their art are no accident: they reflect each artist's inspiration from Asian culture. A sense of cultural curiosity about anime and manga subcultures runs through the works, which explore major cultural phenomena such as the Internet, 'Kawaii' and video games. A fantastical quality and a lively style draw parallels between the Valencian visual artists, seeking to appeal to adults, older people and children alike in Hong Kong and Asia.
